Known limits

A monitor is only as useful as its gaps are known. These are EHW's, as of now.

Coverage

  • European weather warnings are placed approximately. Many MeteoAlarm warnings arrive without an area EHW can draw. They are shown at the centre of the country with a 100 km radius, not at the region actually warned.
  • Volcanoes outside the US and New Zealand come from GDACS only, with no dedicated observatory feed.
  • Armed conflict comes from UCDP candidate data, which is published daily, and from news-derived signals. No conflict source is fast enough to make a conflict event act-worthy.
  • Precipitation radar covers the United States only.

Scores and reports

  • The information part of the country threat score draws on less data than the others.
  • The SITREP may be a plain data summary rather than a written assessment when the model is unavailable. The page says which one you are reading.

Access

  • The API rate limit is per IP address. Many people behind one address, such as an office or a mobile carrier, can hit it together.

Always

EHW is not an official warning service. It relays what official agencies publish, and can be behind them. In an emergency, follow your local authorities.
