Documentation
Rift (EHW) is a real-time global threat monitor. It polls official warning agencies and open data feeds, puts what they report on one 0 to 100 severity scale, and draws it on one live world map. It is free and needs no sign-up.
EHW is not an official alerting service. If you are in danger, follow your local authorities and emergency broadcasts. EHW shows what they publish, and can be minutes behind them.
Where to start
- The dashboard walks through the sections of the main page, top to bottom.
- The map covers the layers, the filters and how to share a view.
- Your Area shows what is happening around a place you choose.
- Push notifications explains how to be told about a serious event without watching the page.
How it works
- Reading an alert explains severity, the plain-language reading of a warning and the banner along the top.
- The Doomsday Clock, the country threat score and the SITREP each have a page saying exactly what goes into them.
- Data sources lists every feed with how often it is polled, and Freshness and status says how EHW decides a feed has gone quiet.
For developers and agents
- REST API: the public read-only API, its rate limit and its OpenAPI description.
- Machine-readable files:
llms.txt, the sitemaps and whatrobots.txtallows.
The rule behind all of it
A failed feed is never shown as calm. If a source cannot be reached, EHW says so rather than showing zero events, because on a site whose job is "am I in danger", an empty map and a broken feed must never look the same. Known limits lists what EHW cannot yet see.
